With few simple steps, you can compare two versions of projects specs belonging to the same project in AutoSpecs. The comparison highlights changes in requirements in the project specs. Submittals, Mockups, QA / QC, Tests and Inspections and Division 01 Requirements are all considered project requirements.

Step 1:
Search for your project from the list of projects. Click on the three dots icon shown on the project tile and click on 'Compare Versions'.

Step 2:Review version changes summary. A high level summary of differences between two latest versions is shown in Versioning screen. To view detailed changes corresponding to a specific requirements group, click on the icon under 'Show differences' column corresponding to that requirements group. For example, "Show differences" icon corresponding to "Closeout Submittals" is shown with an arrow in the below screenshot.

Step 3: Review the changes in detail.  The changes between the two spec versions are shown in the form of what was added, deleted, modified or unchanged.

Added : Requirements marked in Green show a new requirement added to the version on the right ride.Deleted : Requirements marked in Red are available in the version shown on the left and were removed from the version shown on the right.Modified : Requirements marked in Yellow have been modified from one version to the other.Unchanged : No color coding on a record means the requirement remained same in both the versions.

You can click on respective tabs (Changes only, Added, Deleted, Modified) as shown by arrow marks in the below screenshot to focus specifically on that category of changes only between the two spec versions.

Step 4:Review the changes in a specific requirement.
Click on the record to understand the changes that were made in the requirement between the two versions

Go through the content marked in yellow to understand the changes in the requirement between the two versions. The fields which were changed will be highlighted.

Step 5:
To export the differences to an Excel sheet, click on the "Export Variance Report" link available at the top of the page. This will download all the differences in an excel format. Visual representation in the Excel is very similar to what is shown on the screen.

By using "Compare Versions" feature, you can review all the differences in detail within a short period of time. A task that would have taken several days or simply not possible within a reasonable amount of time can now be done in a short period of time.
